Anti-Ragging Week at Manjapara B.Ed College, Ayur

Creating Awareness, Spreading Positivity, and Building a Ragging-Free Campus

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 12th–18th August 2025 as "Anti-Ragging Week" across India, encouraging institutions to raise awareness and ensure a safe and inclusive campus atmosphere. In line with this initiative, "Manjapara B.Ed College, Ayur" successfully conducted a series of engaging and insightful programmes that not only educated students about the ill-effects of ragging but also empowered them to stand united against it.

The week-long programme was marked by creativity, discussions, and collective pledges, making it a memorable and impactful campaign for all participants.

Day 1 : Inauguration and Awareness Programme

Date : 12th August 2025 (Tuesday)

The week began with the "inaugural function of Anti-Ragging Week". In the absence of Principal our faculty members, and students gathered to launch the campaign with enthusiasm.

Students unveiled the official logo – "Raksha", symbolizing protection and unity. Accompanied by the tagline “We Protect, We Stand, We Fight Ragging”, the logo reflected the spirit of resilience and solidarity against ragging.

Beautifully designed "posters"prepared by students pasted all over the classroom , serving as a visual reminder of the commitment to building a safe and respectful environment.

Day 2: Round Table Discussions

Date : 13 August 2025 ( Wednesday)

The second day was dedicated to meaningful conversations. A "round table discussion" was organized, where students were divided into four groups, each addressing a significant aspect of ragging:

  • Defining Ragging and Its Impact – exploring the psychological, emotional, and academic consequences faced by victims.
  • Legal Aspects – understanding UGC guidelines, Supreme Court directives, and the Anti-Ragging Act.
  • Prevention and Intervention – strategies for peer support, mentoring, and immediate reporting mechanisms.
  • Addressing the Root Cause – analyzing why ragging persists and how cultural, social, and institutional changes can help eradicate it.

After the group presentations, teachers shared their valuable insights , enriching the discussion with real-world perspectives and highlighting the importance of empathy and awareness.

Day 3 : Slogan Making

Date : 14 August 2025

Creativity took center stage on the third day as students participated in a slogan-making activity . Powerful and thought-provoking slogans against ragging were written and displayed on college walls. These slogans not only decorated the classroom  but also reinforced the strong anti-ragging message.

Day 4: Pledge and Campaign Closure

Date : 18th August 2025

The final day of the Anti-Ragging Week was marked with both creativity and commitment . A colorful "Selfie Corner" was set up with the campaign hashtag "#YaARI Youth Against Ragging India", encouraging students to showcase their support for the cause.

The highlight of the day was the "thumbprint ceremony". Each student and teachers placed their thumbprint on a collective poster, symbolizing unity and personal responsibility in the fight against ragging.

Following this, everyone came together to take a solemn pledge against ragging, promising to uphold respect, equality, and compassion within the campus. The combination of the thumbprint and the pledge created a strong sense of solidarity, bringing the week-long programme to a powerful conclusion.

The "Anti-Ragging Week" at Manjapara B.Ed College, Ayur was not just a formality but a heartfelt effort to nurture a "ragging-free and student-friendly campus". From launching a symbolic logo to engaging in discussions, creative expressions, and pledges, the week empowered students to take ownership of their campus culture.

By the end of the programme, every participant carried forward the message:

“We Protect, We Stand, We Fight Ragging.”
