The Capacity Building Programme titled “Innovative Dress Design Using Paper, Plant Leaf and Plastic” was successfully conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 12 noon in the Seminar Hall of MEACT B.Ed. College, Ayoor. The programme focused on sustainable fashion, creative use of resources, and skill development, encouraging students to explore eco-friendly alternatives in dress design.

The programme was inaugurated by the respected  Principal, whose inspiring words emphasized the importance of innovation, creativity, and sustainability in education. The event was effectively coordinated by the faculty coordinator, who guided and supported the students throughout the programme.

As part of the activity, students were divided into three groups based on the materials assigned, namely paper, plastic, and plant leaves. Each group was given the task of designing creative and innovative dresses using their respective materials, which promoted teamwork, imagination, and problem-solving skills.

Our group selected paper as the theme. The members of our team were Alsiya, Thaslima, Amala, Kavya, Vishnupriya, Anisree, Sandra, Anjali, Alfiya, Megha, Abhija, and Asiya. The group designed a beautiful wedding gown using paper, and Anisree confidently performed as the model. Her elegant and graceful presentation brought the creative design to life.

In the plant leaf group, Revathy and Anuraj modeled dresses made from freshly plucked plant leaves, showcasing originality and a strong connection with nature. The plastic group also presented an impressive design using discarded plastic materials, which was modeled by Aswathy and Ansaf, highlighting the importance of recycling and reuse.

All the models performed confidently during the ramp walk, and the programme was conducted in an enthusiastic, lively, and joyful atmosphere. Students actively participated in the event, making it both engaging and educational.

The programme helped enhance creativity, teamwork, confidence, and awareness about sustainable fashion practices among students. It also enabled them to understand how commonly available materials can be transformed into meaningful and artistic designs.

Overall, the Capacity Building Programme was a great success and provided a valuable learning experience for all B.Ed. students, reinforcing the significance of innovation, sustainability, and skill development in teacher education.
