MY SIXTH WEEK OF TEACHING PRACTICE π«✨
August 10–14, 2026 π️
A Week of Reflection, Revision, and Responsibility ππ±
The sixth week of my teaching practice at GSSS Yeroor was an important stage in my professional journey, filled with valuable learning experiences and new responsibilities. The week began with a significant event that gave me an opportunity to reflect on my teaching competencies and classroom management skills. As the days progressed, I participated in revision activities for the upcoming Onam examinations and assisted teachers with various examination-related duties. These experiences helped me understand the importance of continuous improvement, careful planning, and cooperation in the teaching profession. π‘π€
August 10 was particularly important to me because a general observation teacher visited the school to observe my teaching. On that day, I conducted my nineteenth lesson plan in Class 9C. The observation provided me with an opportunity to demonstrate my teaching skills and classroom management abilities. After the class, the teacher offered valuable feedback and appreciated my overall handling of the classroom. However, she advised me not to seek responses from the entire class at once and encouraged me to address individual students to ensure wider participation and assess their understanding more effectively. She also emphasised the importance of improving my time management. Her suggestions helped me recognise that effective teaching involves not only presenting content clearly but also ensuring that every student gets an opportunity to participate. I realised that creating a positive and interactive classroom atmosphere, managing time efficiently, and continuously developing my teaching competencies are essential for becoming an effective teacher. I considered this observation a valuable learning opportunity and decided to apply the feedback in my subsequent classes. π©π«π
On the following days, I concentrated on revising the portions for the upcoming Onam examinations. I guided students through the important concepts and chapters they had studied and engaged them in different revision activities to reinforce their learning. The students were cooperative and supportive, making the revision sessions more interactive and productive. I encouraged them to clarify their doubts, recall important points, and participate actively in the activities. These sessions helped me understand the importance of revision in strengthening students' understanding and preparing them for examinations. They also gave me an opportunity to identify areas where students required further clarification and support. π✏️
August 13 marked the beginning of the students' examinations. As regular classroom teaching gave way to examination duties, we teacher trainees were entrusted with several responsibilities to support the smooth conduct of the examinations. We assisted the teachers by preparing and arranging the required examination materials, collecting question papers and other necessary materials, organising them properly, and distributing them to the respective classrooms. We carried out these duties with care and cooperation, understanding the importance of accuracy, punctuality, and confidentiality in examination-related work. This experience provided me with practical knowledge of the administrative responsibilities involved in conducting school examinations. ππ
On August 14, the examinations continued, and we remained actively involved in supporting the examination process. We assisted the teachers with the necessary arrangements and helped ensure that the examination-related activities were carried out in an organised manner. Although the nature of our responsibilities differed from regular classroom teaching, the experience was equally valuable. It helped me understand that a teacher's role includes maintaining discipline, supporting school administration, and ensuring the smooth functioning of academic activities. Working alongside the teachers also strengthened my sense of responsibility, teamwork, and professional commitment. π₯π―
Overall, the sixth week of my teaching practice was a meaningful combination of professional reflection, academic support, and administrative experience. The general observation helped me identify areas for improvement in student interaction and time management, while the revision sessions allowed me to support students in preparing for their examinations. Participating in examination duties further broadened my understanding of the responsibilities of a teacher beyond the classroom. This week reminded me that professional growth comes from accepting feedback, learning from experience, and approaching every responsibility with dedication. I hope to continue improving my teaching competencies and become a more confident, organised, and student-centred teach
